All right, so. I'm putting this here because I know Homestuck and its characters can be a real eyesore! So this is proving as a Permissions Post, so that you and any of your characters can opt out of any and all things John might do that would be offensive or otherwise problematic to you or your characters, for any reason or for no reason at all. :>

You can opt out, firstly, of his typing quirk! john types with no capitalization, but otherwise uses perfect syntax and punctuation, in this lovely shade of blue courier. he sometimes gets A LITTLE EXCITED and types in caps, and sometimes he'll /sigh use backslash action brackets to denote he's doing something. he will use emoticons every so often, too! :B As was brought to my attention by a few people (thank you, guys!), John can't actually type in Luceti-- I knew this, but for some reason didn't make the correlation properly, so! His writing is just probably gonna be in blue and he's not gonna use any caps. This changes the opting out just a little, but I'm still willing to work with anybody that isn't okay with any aspect of it. The ways to opt out are a.) opting out of written responses entirely, as John has shown in canon that he doesn't capitalize hand-written things, either, or b.) just opting out of the blue color. Just let me know!

Secondly, John is basically going to fourth wall the entire game if he's not told to stop. He has, in canon, watched Doctor Who and played The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and has an endless tome of pop culture references from movies and television shows. He's a huge nerd that loves comics, games, cinema, and everything else media-related. So it is safe to assume that anything, game/movie/television series or otherwise that came out before April 13, 2009, is something he will be familiar with. Example; he will know that Draco Malfoy is the slimy ferret git from the book series Harry Potter. This is your chance to let me know if you are not comfortable with John knowing this! He will have a convenient memory lapse of your character being from their respective canon if this is the case. Just let me know here!

as for fourth walling, it sounds like buffy might fall into his areas of geekery. he's welcome to know that she's fictional but i only ask that you keep john telling HER that to a minimum. a hint here or there is cool -- she's been 4th walled before -- but generally she just likes to ignore it and move on.

my other character,

greenjacketed (major richard sharpe), is from the british tv/book series of the same name (sharpe). he looks like sean bean, so john's welcome to notice that! also i don't know if he would have ever watched sharpe -- it's semi-obscure but well-known and loved by those familiar with it. it's your call!

Oh man he'd definitely know Buffy. And yeah, he's not about to go being like wow you're totally not real! He's more the type to be like dude. Guys. I just met Buffy the Vampire Slayer. No, not Sarah Michelle Gellar, Buffy the Fucking Vampire Slayer.

Sharpe may not be one he'd know, but I'll do a little research on the show and see if he wouldn't know any kind of references or anything to it. :>

I'm cool with the typing quirk stuff (or writing quirk I guess...?) for Ion here and Tanuma (

kindaqueer) but no fourth walling on either of them, please! Tanuma might be too obscure anyway, but Tales of the Abyss dudes have enough existential problems in canon, I think... xD

ROFL. I'm not sure John's ever played Abyss, anyway. He seems to like things more like his crazy Ghostbusters MMOs. XD

I would prefer to opt out of the typing quirks entirely. I'm actually fine with the blue and courier, but it's hard for me to read all caps and no caps and I have to do enough of that at work (I do chat based support).

As far as fourth walling, does this count if the canon was not released in English before then? Leonhardt's canon is multiple games and only the first part has gotten an English release and that was in 2011, but he's from the ending of the second game. Both parts that apply to him were released in Japanese in 2004 and 2006. Let me know if this one applies or not so I can give further info as it includes numerous spoilers for his canon for me to do so.

Hartia is fine, just not saying he's fictional and all. But feel free to abuse John's knowledge to call him Shrimp Man all you want. He'll just assume John has met Orphen already.

I'll make sure everything quirked is under a cut, then, but I'm pretty sure that if something is written John's still gonna not use capitalization. :\ That's just kind of a characterization thing? But I am more than happy to just avoid replying to your characters in a written format. John's probably gonna wind up using video and voice a lot more often, anyway. :D

I doubt John would be familiar with a game that wasn't Americanized before 2009, so you're scot-free on that one!

As far as Hartia, he very well may! Orphen strikes me as an oldschool enough anime that John might know enough about it, at least from Dave and his irony. :)

I'm fine with all of it, both on Viral here and Lupin III (

redjacketthief). In fact, Lupin might be happy to know that someone knows him for who he is, and not who his grandfather is. I'm astounded that all of these Japanese kids in the enclosure do not recognize him--he's kind of a cultural icon over there.

As for Viral...I doubt he'd care, honestly. Though, he's from the post time skip arc, but was pulled out of his prison cell. He's not aware that the moonfall will be stopped, or that he becomes Gurren's pilot in a matter of...two episodes.

Yessss. Man John would probably love the Lupin series as a whole. I'll make sure he picks up on that in the next handful of tags here. :>

And John would probably recognize TGGL, but I'm not sure he'd know the characters by name. He's not actually the one in the series that is an avid anime-watcher, but his best friend watches a lot of it for the "irony". So he might catch some references, and God help the world if he ever meets Kamina. His best friend's older brother wears black-tinted shades that look like his. /)__(\

Cool with the font stuff, unicorn man here is from a canon I doubt John would know but I'm apping in Sapphire Birch from a Pokemon canon (

pathofstrength) this round and I'm okay with fourth-walling once she shows up.

Yeah I actually went and looked up Ondorous' canon, just to see if John would be familiar with the franchise-- it wasn't Americanized until after April 13, 2009, so he wouldn't be familiar with it anyway. :>

He'll probably definitely know Sapphire, though. At least in passing enough to taunt her with periodic "Gotta catch 'em all"s.

Oh, gosh! I'm fine with being tagged, but I didn't know John has played a Zelda game. I only got up to act V. If it's alright with you, I'd prefer Anju here not be fourth-walled, since she's from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The same goes for Mieu (Tales of the Abyss,

Windy Thing. It's funny,". He probably wouldn't be familiar with Mieu since Abyss is sort of an obscureish game to begin with, and I'm not sure if Star Ocean is something he'd have played or not. I'm ok with all the text stuff and whatever. I don't think he would know by other two characters and Captain America hasn't come out yet in 2009, but if he wants to recognize Howard Stark (I don't remember if he knows anything about Iron Man, so your call) he's free to.

He'll definitely recognize the name "Stark", but he'll probably piss Howard off by touching on it with "What, like Tony Stark?". Iron Man seems like far too big of a pop culture thing for him to not be at least passingly familiar with, though I'm not sure if he has a preference to DC or Marvel.

...you know that's a good question. I just sort of operated under the assumption that using the blue courier would function like he was just writing in blue, since I don't have a font made up of his handwriting that is shown in canon. Either way, it's perfectly opt-out-able, so. :>

Uh... well, usually I'm fine with Homestuck quirks, but... Luceti doesn't even have typing- all the writing in the journals is done by hand. So, I guess I'm a little confused on why it's an issue? I don't think a 13 year old boy is capable of writing in courier, and since John isn't a troll tied to a certain blood color, it doesn't really seem to me he'd be quite as gung-ho about finding something blue to write in as any other random village resident.

Rofl I definitely hadn't even considered this when I made the permissions post. Which is dumb because I'm like... I knew it was writing? And for some reason thought I still needed the quirk permission. I blame the lack of sleep and attention span. As far as blue goes, John just has a habit of writing in it, so while he wouldn't necessarily be gung-ho insane about finding a means to do so, it's also not hard to believe that he might happen across a blue pen and write in it. :>; I'm gonna edit the permissions post a little in a minute her to reflect the fact that I'm dumb and ...for some reason thought written needed a quirk permission. @_@;

That said, I don't have an issue with the "writing" quirk, and... I play a Pokémon character. I am perfectly fine with him getting fourth walled. Hell, he fourth walls himself sometimes. I'm even fine with him being told he's a so-called fictional character, because he knows about Pokémon games and how there's a game "based on his life".

Asbel's game was released in late 2009 so the fourth walling thing doesn't really matter for him.

The font is blue. I'm ok with pretty blue fonts and the quirks, long as it's the whatever default font DW has and nothing fancier lol. Also, a-ok with 4th walling.

moezama), and Roku (

flameoroku). Pretty sure he'd be familiar with at least three of the four canons I play from lol since they're pretty popular/well-known. Course, if you ever need clarity with canon stuff, you know how to reach me.

He's probably not played Vesperia, since he's more of a western gamer than a JRPGer, but he will likely at least in passing know Kazuma and Roku? I'll have to check the American release dates of Blazblue. I doubt he'll know Yui, though-- he doesn't really seem like the type to read shoujo manga. XD
